Parents: Watch Your Little Boys and Your Laser Pointers. Both, preferably.
Some pending legislation can make it a Class C Misdemeanor (punishable by up to $500) or a Class A Misdemeanor (punishable by up to 1 year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine) if a person points a laser pointer at an aircraft.
Here is the
link to that proposed legislation.
Now, I’m a parent, but I count myself a little luckier that my child would neither have access to a laser pointer from my desk at home, nor would my child fool around by pointing one at a plane.
Naturally, the more severe penalty is reserved for those cases in which the laser interferes with operation of the plane, but shouldn’t the legislation itself be limited to those cases?
