Austin Criminal Lawyer Blogs On Outlawing Fake Marijuana Brownies
This news is from the department of “Isn’t The Legislature Supposed to Be Doing Something Important Now, Like School Finance?”
House Bill 74 would make it a Class A Misdemeanor to sell or offer to sell candy or another confectionery that the seller knows is made to contain even the simulated flavor of marijuana.
Who the hell cares if someone sells fake pot brownies?
I’m reminded of the bubble gum cigarettes that stores used to sell when I was little. All the kids in the neighborhood would buy them and then pretend to smoke. I feel lucky I moved on to Tootsie Pops.
The best thing that can be said for House Bill 74 is that it didn’t survive the 1st Special (Called) Session of the 79th Legislature.
If you are really interested or amused, you can read House Bill 74 for yourself. The link below will help you search for it. Just click on the link and type “HB74” in and hit enter.

Be sure the session shown is the 79th 1st Called Session, not some other Session of the 79th Legislature.
