Much has been said about the deaths of Shauna and Kurt Jacobson, the events which led to that tragedy, plus which Austin Police Department officers saw what events, and when they saw them.
When friends and relatives talk to me about the tragedy, they may expect me to criticize APD’s handling of it. And it appears that there might be plenty to say in criticism of the very top level of management.
But all I do have to say is that two good souls are lost and that Shauna Jacobson was one hell of a cop.
I never worked with Kurt, but I expect he was very good too.
Many years ago, when I was still a prosecutor, I had dealings with Shauna. I was extremely impressed with her intelligence, her listening ability, and her leadership skills.
